eFFers behind leaks of Mahon docs to press
The eFFing Party are still insisting that the opposition parties are behind the leaks of information on Bumbling Bertie's personal finances. I'm thinking that it is the eFFers themselves who are responsible for the leaks. Consider the following:- Each time there is a controversy about the Gombeen Taoiseach's shady financial dealings in the 1990s, his satisfaction rating goes up in the polls.
- All this manufactured controversy is serving to keep the Master Ditherer at the forefront of media attention - and there is no such thing as bad publicity! This is particularly true when applied to a sizeable chunk of de Banana Republic's electorate (those who think C.J.Haughey was a hero instead of the criminal he was), large numbers of whom admire what any right-thinking person would regard as anti-social behaviour if not downright criminality.
- Keeping the Emperor of Spoof in the headlines also serves to divert attention away from the utter mess the country is in (see list of real issues below).
- With everyone seemingly pre-occupied with He of the Brown Tongue, nobody is paying much attention to the opposition parties' policies, which is a good thing for the PD/SS-eFFer coalition.
These are the real issues which should be pre-occupying the media and electorate:
- Sorting out the creaking Health Service and the filthy hospitals - and that involves solving the Nurses' strike and getting the pissed-off consultants onside instead of compounding the mess as Tub of Lard Harney has done
- Grossly inflated house prices for poor-quality energy-inefficient housing thanks to the "self-regulation" (read total lack of regulation) of the construction industry, complements of the eFFing Party being in the pockets of the Construction industry
- Cronic traffic problems in all big towns and cities caused by poor planning, and a farcical public transport service - due to over-investment in road building to the detriment of the railways and other public transport - again thanks to the eFFing Party being in the pockets of the Construction industry
- Total failure to tackle causes of burgeoning suicide rate - many more people die by suicide every year than on the roads, yet this is barely mentioned while there is outcry (and rightly so) about the deaths on the roads
- The ridiculous practice of allowing people who have never passed the driving test to drive on the roads, thus making the already dangerous roads even more dangerous.
And this is just for starters. There are many more items I could add to the list if I had the time.
